Overtraining and Burnout

If you have a motivated kid who loves their sport, how do you know if they are training too much? And what are the risks of overtraining? When it comes to young athletes, parents and coaches alike wrestle with these questions. (Even adult athletes struggle to know when they’re overtraining.)

The most obvious problem is that training too much and/or too intensely can lead to injury. It can also lead to a less obvious problem that can be harder to diagnose: burnout.

Experts at UPMC Sports Medicine discuss how to prevent both of these common challenges.
