Successful Community Building Fuels 2025 Plans

In 2024, Larkin, Josie, Claire, and Lilly, four of PICL’s Junior Advisory Representatives (JAR), organized 3 amazing activities at statewide PICL events. These activities not only brought a fun, festive atmosphere to balance out the weekend’s racing, they also created community and an opportunity for riders, coaches and families to build and strengthen friendships between teams and across the league.

Teams fought in the Penn College Water Balloon Fight. The balloon fight became a successful fundraiser for PICL GRiT and the She Sends Foundation. A giant cookout and potluck at Granite Hill encouraged PICL families and friends to come together and catch up while sharing a meal. Johnstown’s Glow Down at the Show Down let everyone enjoy an evening of dusk riding, music, dancing, and, of course, all things glow.

For 2025, the goal is to expand our GRiT work. With the addition of JAR student-athletes Petra, Leena, Lauren, annd Kate, we have exciting plans to:

  • Add female-only activities.

  • Dust off the GRiT tent & get hands and minds creating.

  • Invite guest educators to speak on female-specific topics.

  • Encourage invitations to our friends & classmates to try mountain biking.

  • Build and strengthen our network of female coaches.

We know that teams with female coaches helps grow female student-athlete numbers; more student-athlete numbers means more community and connection for our girls.
