Multi-Day GRiT Camps Increase Opportunities
Heather Weirich, Team Director of Phoenixville Inferno, describes why the team has been hosting a Multi-Day GRiT Camp for years:
Accessible Opportunity
By hosting a Multi-Day Camp, it allows for more families to check us out. We know that there are always a MILLION things to do, especially in the spring as we approach the end of the school year. By scheduling an early evening camp that spans Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, we are providing multiple opportunities for girls to join us when their schedule permits.
“Whether prospective female riders attend one, two, or three days, the experience and message remain consistent: We are SO glad you are here! Now, let’s have fun!”
Education and Fun
We make it a point to plan out as much FUN as possible! With colorful, bike-centric craft projects like race plate design, T-shirt painting, off-the-bike ice-breaker games, and on-the-bike skill games, we keep our camp moving with the perfect blend of information and laughs.
What good is any camp without fun in the sun with tie-dye, stickers, giggles and new sense of belonging? Which leads us to reason number three.
Community
“Our camps are successful because of the amazing community that comes together to make it so! ”
Female coaches from Great Valley, Downingtown, Owen J Roberts, Twin Valley, T.E., Bucks County, Lower Bucks County, So. Mont., Radnor, Delaware, have come together with the Inferno coaches to deliver a positive, IMPACTFUL, and empowering GRiT camp. When prospective female riders from the region attend a Multi-Day GRiT Camp, they are greeted by not only student-athlete ambassadors but also women mountain bikers from a multitude of teams.
“Not only are the girls coming to camp to learn about mountain biking, but they learn a much bigger, essential lesson: You belong here!”
