VOLUNTEER SIGN UP LINK IS HERE!

Once you’re signed up, fill out the volunteer waiver, so you’re ready to roll upon arrival.

Not sure which position is right for you? Check out the descriptions and training videos, HERE.

Still have questions? Email PICL Volunteering at volunteer@pamtb.org.

  • Granite Hill - Saturday Evening at 6 pm at the picnic area between the pool and the pavilion.

**If you have heavy items, such as a crockpot or case of water, you may drop them off at the picnic area, then circle back to event parking. Otherwise, all parking for the Cookout is in event parking. No Day Use Fee required to attend.

What brings people together even more than biking? Food! That’s why GRiT is hosting a cookout at Granite Hill on Saturday the 14th. Come join us at the campground’s picnic area near the pool and stage at 6:00 pm for friends, games, music, and of course, food!

    Care to share?

To make this a large, social event we need your help! While hot dogs and s'mores will be provided, we would like everyone to bring their own dish, side or dessert to share. Crockpots are welcome!

In addition to that, we need volunteers to bring plates, napkins, and silverware for the evening. These supplies are much needed and will help this event run smoothly!

Another volunteer option is supplying the lawn games or fun activities that everyone can participate in. Feel free to bring corn hole, spike ball, or any similar field game!

Sign up to bring food, paper products, and/or games HERE.

To ensure that all categories are covered at this event, please note what you are willing to bring on a forthcoming SignupGenius page. This will also be where you can volunteer to help grill or set up the stage if you would like to help us even more!

    What To Bring

For your own comfort, make sure to bring your own camping chairs to use during the evening. Also, campfire skewers will be provided for s’mores, but you may prefer to bring your own instead.

    Remember!

This is a FREE event so everyone is strongly encouraged to volunteer! All of GRiT’s events strive to bring teams from across the state together and this is no different! So make sure to stay for a while!

  • Adventure at Granite is a time to do some exploring with your team. There’s lots to do in the Gettysburg area with the Gettysburg National Park and Battlefield a great place to visit and go for a ride.

One option is a battlefield ride with ice cream! You can find more info about that spin, HERE.

Right down the road you’ll find the expansive Michaux State Forest offering up hundreds of miles of singletrack and gravel all waiting for you to explore. Pick up a Purple Lizard Map and go explore.

Michaux tips from the locals: Big parking lot. Head north from the cell phone tower on the double track. Take multiple maps and a GPS. Many unmapped trails! No bathrooms. Good gravel and legal double-track.

Caledonia State Park has plenty to offer, including this 6 mile beginner loop.

Emmitsburg, MD is just around the corner and offers something for all. Trail is SUNDAY ONLY post Labor Day. NO CELL PHONE service. Parking is very limited at the trailhead/dam area. You can park along the road past the small parking area, but be careful of traffic. Emmitsburg Multi-User Trail System Map and more info from Emmitsburg’s Parks and Rec.

Codorus State Park has ample parking. Explore these mountain bike trails there.

  • Gettysburg has a very special place in the history of the United States. As a turning point in the Civil War and the site of Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address, options to explore the battlefield and learn more about our country’s history abound.

Just a few miles away is Gettysburg National Military Park. Stop in at the Visitor’s Center and ask for their “bike tour” map, then check out the battlefield sites on two wheels. If hitching a ride through the battlefield is more your speed, consider a Gettysburg Battlefield Bus Tour.

Prefer to see the spooky side of Gettysburg? Schedule a Civil War Ghost Tour. Want more history? Stop at the Eisenhower National Historic Site.

Local parks include Caledonia State Park and Michaux State Forest, with plenty of options for biking, hiking and relaxing in nature.

Gettysburg offers many different options for places to eat and drink, too, including right on-site at Granite Hill’s Red Shed Cafe!

  • Our event is being held at Granite Hill Campground. We will be sharing the campground with other folks all weekend long who are not part of PICL. Say hello. Smile. Be respectful.

If staying at Granite Hill Campground, there is a 2-night minimum for reservations made in advance. Walk-ups can stay 1 night, but availability can not be guaranteed.

Gettysburg offers many other campgrounds, airBnBs, regular old BnBs, and hotels such as The Gettysburg Hotel, Wyndham Gettysburg, and Country Inn & Suites. Local campgrounds include Round Top Campground, Drummer Boy Campground, and Gettysburg Campground.

A quick search will turn up plenty of options to match your needs!

  • It is your responsibility to understand rules related to the venue, event, and NICA competitions.

Penalties will be assessed to individuals and teams for breaking/disregarding rules at NICA events. Penalties can include, but are not limited to, loss of individual points, loss of team points, time penalties, and event expulsion. Please read and understand the General Event and Venue Rules (below), as well as the PA Handbook.
